Nabil Fahmy Meets with Heads and Directors of Specialized Arab Organizations

Mr Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met today, Monday, 6 July 2026, with the heads and directors of the specialized Arab organizations at the headquarters of the General Secretariat, where he outlined his vision for the priorities of the coming period in the context of enhancing the performance of the General Secretariat and strengthening coordination and integration with the specialized Arab organizations.

The Secretary-General stressed that the accelerating developments and growing challenges facing the region require a reassessment and modernization of existing working methods in order to adapt to regional and international developments and strengthen the capacity of the joint Arab action system to respond efficiently and flexibly to the various challenges and crises.

He emphasized that the next phase should be based on strategic planning, institutional integration, and making the best possible use of the capabilities and expertise available across the institutions of the joint Arab action system.

The Secretary-General also called on the heads and directors of the specialized Arab organizations to put forward practical and actionable initiatives that can be implemented in the near term, contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of the specialized Arab organizations and improving the efficiency of the joint Arab action system, thereby enabling it to respond more effectively to the aspirations of the Arab States and their peoples.

For their part, the heads and directors of the specialized Arab organizations congratulated the Secretary-General on assuming office and reaffirmed their support for his vision and priorities for the coming period, as well as their commitment to working in a spirit of teamwork to strengthen coordination among the various components of the joint Arab action system.

The heads and directors of the specialized Arab organizations also presented briefings on the principal activities and programmes undertaken by their respective organizations and reviewed the main challenges they face, particularly those related to financing and the sustainability of resources.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to intensify regular meetings between the Secretary-General and the heads and directors of the specialized Arab organizations in order to strengthen coordination and integration among the institutions of the joint Arab action system, follow up on the implementation of joint programmes and activities, and regularly assess the progress achieved.
