H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy receives GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi

H E Mr Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received Mr. Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on 13 August.

The meeting addressed a number of Arab and regional issues of common interest in light of the rapid developments unfolding across the region, particularly those relating to the security and stability of the Arab Gulf states and their implications for Arab national security, as well as priority Arab issues and the means to strengthen coordination between the League and the GCC in addressing them.

The two sides underscored the importance of maintaining consultation between the League of Arab States and the GCC in a manner that reinforces the unity of the Arab position on the issues and challenges confronting the region, while supporting efforts to preserve security and stability and safeguard Arab interests.

They also discussed prospects for further developing cooperation between the two General Secretariats and strengthening mechanisms for consultation and coordination, with a view to advancing joint Arab action and consolidating efforts to address the region's current challenges.
