Aboul Gheit condemns Iranian escalation against vital targets

Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, reiterated his condemnation, in the strongest terms, the dangerous Iranian escalation against civilian targets and vital facilities in the Gulf region, stressing that this reckless and unjustified escalation represents a grave miscalculation that Iran must immediately reconsider.

Gamal Roshdy, the Secretary-General’s official spokesperson, stated that Mr. Aboul Gheit asserted that Iran is perpetrating aggression against peoples by targeting vital facilities and civilian targets, and that through its uncalculated escalation against populations, critical infrastructure, and civilian installations, it is placing the entire region on an extremely dangerous trajectory.

Roshdy added that the Secretary-General of the League is closely following the developments of the Iranian escalation and considers it a desperate strategy directed against states that neither participated in the war nor sought it.

Such a strategy, he noted, will only deepen hatred and hostility across the region.
