H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy receives Palestinian Foreign Minister

H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received on 7 September Ms Varsen Shahin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine, at the General Secretariat headquarters on the sidelines of the 166th session of the League Council at the Ministerial Level.

The official spokesperson for the Secretary-General said that Mr Fahmy listened to the Minister’s briefing on the latest developments in the Palestinian situation, amid the occupying Power’s systematic escalation in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

During the meeting, the Secretary-General affirmed the special place accorded to the Palestinian cause on the agenda of joint Arab action, stressing the need for resolute action to counter the occupying Power’s plans to dilute Palestinian identity, impose a new geographical and demographic reality through brute force, and effect the de facto annexation of the West Bank.

The spokesperson added that the meeting addressed a number of important issues relating to the Palestinian cause, particularly efforts to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and counter the occupying Power’s measures to besiege the Palestinian economy and sever Palestinian banks from the global financial system.
