The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States condemns inciting calls to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector strongly condemns the calls issued by Israeli settler organisations to organise large-scale incursions into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, coinciding with the so-called “Anniversary of the Destruction of the Temple”, considering them a dangerous escalation and a grave violation of the historical and legal status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, as well as an infringement upon the sanctity of the Islamic holy sites.

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector strongly condemns the calls issued by Israeli settler organisations to organise large-scale incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, coinciding with the so-called "Anniversary of the Destruction of the Temple", considering them a dangerous escalation and a grave violation of the historical and legal status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, as well as an infringement upon the sanctity of Islamic holy sites.

The General Secretariat affirms that these calls, together with any measures and practices for which the occupying authorities may provide protection, constitute an extension of systematic Israeli policies aimed at imposing unlawful facts on the ground in occupied Jerusalem, in flagrant violation of international law and the relevant United Nations resolutions.

The General Secretariat holds Israel, the occupying Power, fully responsible for the consequences of these violations, warning of their serious repercussions for security and stability and of their undermining the prospects for achieving peace.

The General Secretariat calls upon the international community, in particular the United Nations Security Council, the United Nations and UNESCO, to fulfil their legal responsibilities and to take urgent and concrete measures to put an end to these violations, ensure the protection of Al-Aqsa Mosque, preserve its historical and legal status quo, and respect the Hashemite Custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

The General Secretariat further reiterates its steadfast support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to establish their independent and sovereign State on the borders of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
