Secretary-General of the League of Arab States discusses developments in Yemen with the Yemeni Foreign Minister

H E Sr Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received a telephone call from Dr Afrah Al-Zouba, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs of the Republic of Yemen, during which they exchanged views on the latest developments in Yemen.

The two sides strongly condemned the attacks carried out by the Houthis against a number of locations inside Yemen, which resulted in loss of life and damage to property.

They stressed the importance of implementing the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216.

The two sides also stressed the need to halt Iranian support for the Houthis and the assistance it provides for their operations inside Yemen and in its regional surroundings, both on land and at sea.

They further emphasised the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States and adhering to the rules of international law.

The Secretary-General reaffirmed the League of Arab States’ solidarity with the Republic of Yemen, its Government and people, and its support for efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political solution that safeguards Yemen’s unity, sovereignty and stability, while preserving the security of the region and the interests of its peoples.
