Secretary-General of the League of Arab States condemns Israeli strike on Abu Al-Duhur military airbase in Syria

H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, condemned the Israeli strike on Abu Al-Duhur military airbase in Idlib Governorate in the Syrian Arab Republic in the early hours of 18 August, describing it as a flagrant violation of Syrian sovereignty and the rules of international law, and a further act of aggression in the series of repeated Israeli attacks against Syria and the region.

H E Mr Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, condemned the Israeli strike on Abu Al-Duhur military airbase in Idlib Governorate in the Syrian Arab Republic in the early hours of 18 August, describing it as a flagrant violation of Syrian sovereignty and the rules of international law, and a further act of aggression in the series of repeated Israeli attacks against Syria and the region.

H E Mr Fahmy described these Israeli attacks as provocative, unjustified and unacceptable, accusing Israel of seeking to spread chaos and expand the arenas of conflict and confrontation, both in Syria and Lebanon, in pursuit of the domestic objectives of its Prime Minister, who is seeking political and electoral gains at the expense of security and stability in the region.

The Secretary-General called on the relevant international actors and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities by compelling Israel to halt these flagrant attacks, thereby preventing the region from sliding further into chaos and violence.
