Nabil Fahmy reaffirms League’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia in the face of Houthi threats

Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Mr. Nabil Fahmy reaffirmed the League’s full solidarity with and support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of any actions or threats that undermine its security, stability, sovereignty, or territorial integrity.

His remarks came in response to recent statements by the Houthi military spokesperson containing unfounded accusations and threats directed against the Kingdom.

The Secretary-General described the statements as a dangerous and unacceptable escalation that risks fuelling regional tensions and undermining ongoing efforts to advance de-escalation and promote security and stability across the region.

Mr Fahmy called on the Houthi group to refrain from inflammatory rhetoric and from any actions or statements that could further heighten tensions.

He stressed that prioritising dialogue and engaging constructively with regional and international efforts to reach a comprehensive political settlement of the Yemeni crisis remain the only viable path towards lasting security and stability in Yemen and the wider region.

The Secretary-General’s official spokesperson stated that Mr. Fahmy underscored that the security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia constitute an integral part of Arab national security.

He reiterated the League of Arab States’ support for all legitimate measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its national security and preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity, in accordance with international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
