His Excellency Mr. Nabil Fahmy discusses enhanced cooperation between League of Arab States and UN human rights office with High Commissioner

H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met with Mr. Volker Türk, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. At the outset of the meeting, Mr. Fahmy congratulated the High Commissioner on the renewal of his mandate for a second term.

His Excellency Mr Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met with Mr Volker Türk, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

At the outset of the meeting, Mr Fahmy congratulated the High Commissioner on the renewal of his mandate for a second term.

The meeting addressed ways of further developing cooperation between the League of Arab States and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The Secretary-General stressed the importance of addressing human rights issues from an objective and impartial perspective.

He also expressed his keenness to activate and update the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides, with a view to strengthening cooperation in capacity-building and promoting a culture of human rights.
