H.E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy receives the Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development.

H E Mr Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received H E Dr Ahmed Samir, Minister of Planning and Economic Development of the Arab Republic of Egypt, today, Sunday, 2 August 2026, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat.

The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, in support of the joint Arab action process in the fields of development, with a view to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Secretary-General affirmed his commitment to strengthening cooperation and partnership with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and to benefit from its accumulated expertise in the fields of strategic planning and sustainable development.

He also welcomed the efforts of the Arab Republic of Egypt to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals despite the economic challenges and changes at the regional and international levels.

The Spokesperson for the Secretary-General stated that Mr Nabil Fahmy praised the fruitful partnership between the General Secretariat and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in preparing and organising the activities of the Arab Sustainable Development Week since its second edition, held in 2018.

In this context, the Official Spokesperson added that Mr Nabil Fahmy expressed his appreciation for the Arab Republic of Egypt’s support for the Week’s activities and for the preparations, which are already well underway, to host its forthcoming edition, which will be held under the patronage of H E Mr Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.

The Official Spokesperson concluded by noting that Mr Nabil Fahmy and H E Dr Ahmed Samir agreed to work on further developing existing avenues of cooperation in a number of priority areas and to continue coordination and consultations regarding the proper preparation for the forthcoming edition of the Arab Sustainable Development Week, scheduled for early 2027.
