H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy welcomes US decision to remove Syria from State Sponsors of Terrorism list

H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, welcomed the decision by the United States to remove the Syrian Arab Republic from its list of State Sponsors of Terrorism, describing it as an important step towards supporting Syria’s recovery and bringing an end to decades of hardship endured by the Syrian people.

The Secretary-General extended his congratulations to the Syrian government and people, stressing that the decision should help encourage broader and more active international support for Syria’s recovery and reconstruction, in line with the Syrian people’s aspirations for security, stability and prosperity.

Mr Fahmy reaffirmed the League of Arab States’ full commitment to supporting Syria politically, economically and developmentally, and to contributing to efforts aimed at advancing recovery, reconstruction and long-term stability.
