H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, strongly condemned the criminal Israeli attacks against civilians and infrastructure in Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, including the destruction of the Gondor Hospital and the targeting of the Ministry of Finance building, describing them as a flagrant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and a blatant breach of international law and international humanitarian law.
His Excellency Mr.
The Secretary-General called on the relevant actors in the international community, foremost among them the United States, as sponsor of the ceasefire agreement reached last June, to oblige Israel to immediately halt these reprehensible attacks and fully comply with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
His Excellency Mr. Fahmy reaffirmed that the continuation of this aggressive conduct constitutes a dangerous escalation and threatens the security and stability of the entire region.
He stressed that the targeting of innocent civilians and healthcare facilities, and the destruction of villages and infrastructure, cannot be accepted under any pretext.
He further noted that such actions reflect the occupying Power’s lack of seriousness towards the negotiating track, as well as its continued efforts to impose a new fait accompli in southern Lebanon through the persistent use of force and violence.
