H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy meets with Vice-President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council

His Excellency Mr Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met with Dr Abdullah Al-Alimi, Vice-President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, on the sidelines of his participation in the high-level meetings of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The meeting addressed the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council’s assessment of developments in the country, particularly in light of the Houthis’ continued military escalation, which threatens the security and safety of the Yemeni Republic’s national resources and poses risks to the security and safety of neighbouring states, as well as trade and maritime navigation in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab.

Mr Fahmy renewed the League of Arab States’ support for the legitimate government and for the efforts undertaken by the Presidential Leadership Council to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

He also expressed support for efforts meant to restore the state’s institutions and their effectiveness, amid extremely challenging security, economic and humanitarian conditions.
