H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy Congratulates Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his Election as Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation

His Excellency Mr Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, congratulated Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his election as Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), wishing him every success in his new role.

The Secretary-General noted that Mr Ould Cheikh Ahmed assumes office at a particularly challenging time, amid rapidly evolving regional and international developments, multiple crises and conflicts, and growing challenges to security, stability and development, as well as increasing pressures on the international system and multilateral cooperation.

Mr Fahmy expressed his readiness to work closely with the new Secretary-General and to further strengthen coordination between the League of Arab States and the OIC, with a view to enhancing the ability of both organisations to respond effectively to these challenges, advance their shared priorities and interests, and promote security, stability and development across the Arab and Islamic worlds.
