H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy condemns Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and Yemen

H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, condemned the attacks carried out by the Houthi group targeting the Najran region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which resulted in injuries to a number of civilians. He also denounced the attacks launched in recent hours against positions and units of the Yemeni Government forces in Marib and Hadhramaut, which caused a number of fatalities and injuries.

He also denounced the attacks launched in recent hours against positions and units of the Yemeni Government forces in Marib and Hadhramaut, which caused a number of fatalities and injuries.

The Secretary-General noted that the targeting of Saudi territory and the endangerment of civilian lives, coupled with the continued attacks and military escalation inside Yemen, represent a deeply alarming course of action that threatens regional security and stability and undermines prospects for de-escalation and a political settlement.

Mr Fahmy reaffirmed the League of Arab States' full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of any aggression targeting its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

He also underscored the urgent need to bring an end to Houthi attacks and the ongoing military escalation in Yemen.

The Secretary-General emphasised that the current phase requires an immediate halt to escalation, refraining from any actions that could further widen the confrontation, and a return to the political process in a manner that safeguards the security of Saudi Arabia and preserves Yemen's stability, unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
