Aboul Gheit holds call with Lebanese president, expresses full solidarity with government and people

Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, held a telephone call with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, during which he expressed his full solidarity with Lebanon  its government and people  in the face of the ongoing Israeli attacks.

Gamal Roshdy, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, stated that Mr. Aboul Gheit strongly condemned the Israeli attacks, which have resulted in the deaths and injuries of hundreds of innocent civilians, describing them as a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

Mr. Aboul Gheit stressed the need for the international community to be alert to Israel’s attempts to undermine understandings aimed at restoring stability by further inflaming the situation.

He asserted the importance of exerting serious pressure on Israel to immediately halt the attacks in order to prevent a renewed descent into a cycle of violence and destruction.
