Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Sets Out Vision for Strengthening Joint Arab Action in Meeting with Permanent Representatives

Mr Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met today with the Permanent Representatives of the Member States to present his vision and set out the strategic priorities that will guide the work of the General Secretariat in enhancing the League's effectiveness and advancing joint Arab action.

The Secretary-General underscored that strengthening the League's effectiveness and strategically repositioning it to better meet the region's evolving challenges is a shared responsibility that requires a genuine partnership between the General Secretariat and Member States.

He emphasized the importance of pursuing a practical, action-oriented approach founded on clear priorities, achievable initiatives, and rigorous implementation, supported by continuous evaluation to deliver tangible and measurable results.

The Secretary-General also briefed the Permanent Representatives on the key priorities outlined in his inaugural communication addressed to Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the member states upon assuming office.

He outlined his vision for strengthening the League's institutional effectiveness and advancing joint Arab action, as well as a series of proposals aimed at enhancing the performance and operational efficiency of the General Secretariat.

He emphasized that realizing this vision will require the continued support of Member States and their sustained commitment to meeting their obligations to the League.

The meeting provided an opportunity for a constructive exchange of views on the priorities for the period ahead.

The Permanent Representatives congratulated the Secretary-General on assuming office and welcomed the vision and priorities he outlined for the next phase.

They reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the General Secretariat to enhance the League's effectiveness and further strengthen joint Arab action in pursuit of the shared interests of Member States and the aspirations of the Arab peoples.
