Nabil Fahmy holds telephone consultations with the Foreign Ministers of Oman, the UAE and Kuwait

Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Mr Nabil Fahmy held telephone conversations with His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman; His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates; and His Highness Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, in light of the serious escalation currently taking place in the region.

The conversations addressed the renewed Iranian attacks targeting the Sultanate of Oman, the targeting of the oil tankers Mombasa and Al Bahiyah belonging to the United Arab Emirates, and the attacks against the State of Kuwait, as well as the resulting loss of life and injuries caused by these unacceptable attacks.

During the calls, Mr. Fahmy expressed his complete rejection of these criminal attacks, describing them as a flagrant violation of international law and Security Council Resolution 2817.

He affirmed that the security and safety of maritime navigation and respect for the rules of international law remain two fundamental pillars for maintaining collective security and the stability of the global economy.

The Secretary-General emphasised that the international community must assume its responsibilities to prevent further escalation.

During the conversations, Mr. Fahmy also renewed the League of Arab States’ full solidarity with the Sultanate of Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and the State of Kuwait in the face of these heinous attacks, reaffirming the League’s full support for all measures taken by the three countries to safeguard their security and the safety of their territories.

He further reiterated the League’s rejection of any acts that threaten the security or undermine the stability of Arab states.
