League Secretary-General meets with Tunisian Foreign Minister on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting on Jerusalem in the Jordanian capital

Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met with Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad of the Republic of Tunisia on 5 August on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting on Jerusalem hosted by Amman, Jordan.

H E Mr Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met with Mr Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad of the Republic of Tunisia on 5 August on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting on Jerusalem hosted by Amman, Jordan.

H E Mr Fahmy expressed his appreciation for Tunisia's longstanding contributions to the work of the League of Arab States, as well as its distinguished diplomatic efforts and principled positions in defence of Arab causes and priorities, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.

Minister Nafti congratulated the Secretary-General on assuming his new responsibilities and wished him success in leading joint Arab action, particularly in light of the formidable challenges confronting the Arab world.

The meeting featured an exchange of views on the latest regional and international developments, with particular emphasis on ways to advance support for the Palestinian cause and to capitalise on the growing international momentum in support of Palestinian rights.

The Secretary-General also commended Tunisia's constructive role through the Trilateral Consultative Mechanism of Libya's Neighbouring Countries, which plays an important role in supporting all Libyan parties in reaching an intra-Libyan political solution, with a view to ending political division, reunifying Libya's institutions, and ensuring lasting peace and stability in the country.

The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen joint Arab action and further develop its mechanisms to keep pace with evolving regional challenges, particularly in light of Tunisia's forthcoming presidency of the Council of the League of Arab States at the Ministerial Level.

In this context, H E Mr Fahmy briefed Minister Nafti on his vision for enhancing the effectiveness of joint Arab action, reaffirming the General Secretariat's commitment to maintaining close consultation and coordination with Tunisia on various Arab and regional issues in a manner that advances shared Arab interests.
