League Secretary-General condemns continued, blatant Iranian assaults on vital civilian facilities in Kuwait

Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, strongly condemned the continuation of Iranian aggression targeting vital civilian facilities in the State of Kuwait, foremost among them two electricity generation and water desalination plants, which resulted in significant material damage.

He also denounced the attacks on the Ministries Complex, the oil sector complex in the Shuwaikh area, and facilities affiliated to the Kuwait National Petroleum Company and the Petrochemical Industries Company.

Mr. Aboul Gheit stressed that Iran’s continued targeting of critical civilian infrastructure and essential means of life—including water desalination plants, energy and electricity facilities, petrochemical installations, civil airports, transport hubs, and residential areas, along with the intimidation of civilians for more than a full month despite repeated international condemnations—reflects a reckless, escalatory, and aggressive Iranian approach towards the Arab Gulf states that cannot be justified.

He affirmed that such actions constitute a fully-fledged crime under international humanitarian law, for which the Iranian regime bears full responsibility.

Gamal Roshdy, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, conveyed Mr. Aboul Gheit’s reaffirmation of absolute solidarity with the State of Kuwait—its leadership and people—and full support for any immediate or subsequent measures it undertakes to halt the continued unlawful Iranian attacks on the resources and capabilities of the Kuwaiti people.
