League of Arab States condemns ballistic attacks on Saudi cities

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States strongly condemned the launch by the Houthi militia of ballistic missiles towards several cities and areas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The General Secretariat affirmed that the repeated Houthi attacks against Saudi territory constitute a highly dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the Kingdom’s security and stability.

It renewed the League of Arab States’ full solidarity with the Kingdom and its support for the measures it deems necessary to protect its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of international law.

The General Secretariat stressed that the continuation of Houthi escalation in the region undermines prospects for reaching a political settlement to the Yemeni crisis and obstructs efforts to create conditions conducive to the resumption of the political process.

It renewed its support for all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, based on the agreed reference frameworks and relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216, in a manner that safeguards Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
